Rhythms of the Diaspora is a non-profit organisation using African & Caribbean movement to educate, connect, and inspire.
We stand out because we don’t just teach choreography — we teach culture. Our workshops explore the history, rhythm, and meaning behind each movement style, connecting dance to heritage, identity, and lived experience.
Our work sits at the intersection of education, performance, and community, creating cultural experiences that feel engaging, accessible, and relevant for today’s generation.

who we are
mission
o use dance as a bridge between Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora — helping Black communities reconnect with their roots while creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds to experience and respect these cultures.
We bring African & Caribbean movement into schools, events, and public spaces where it is often underrepresented, challenging stereotypes and showing that these dance styles deserve to be celebrated everywhere.
Vision
A world where African & Caribbean dance is taught, valued, and represented with the same respect as any other art form — and where people across the diaspora can proudly share their heritage wherever they are.
Through education, performance, and community, we aim to make cultural pride visible, accessible, and celebrated in every space.
Why We are Different
Most dance workshops focus only on technique.
We focus on context — where the movement comes from, who created it, and why it matters.
By combining education, performance, and storytelling, we help people of all ages feel connected to Africa and the Caribbean, whether they’ve grown up within the culture or are discovering it for the first time.
We blend traditional influences with contemporary movement styles, creating workshops that build cultural understanding alongside confidence, creativity, and self-expression.
